Active Parenting of Teens Class

Care Net and Wetzel Road Church of Christ are teaming up to offer Active Parenting of Teens/Families in Action, a six-week parenting class for parents and teens/tweens.

There’s no denying it: parents and teens are often at odds. But in today’s society where children seem to become adults overnight and where they often make decisions about drugs, sexuality, and violence before they understand the consequences, it’s more important than ever that parents and teens build strong relationships and learn skills to handle the challenges that lie ahead. So how can you ensure that your teens develop the skills and character they need to not only survive but to thrive as they become more independent? Active Parenting of Teens: Families in Action can help. This unique video and discussion program is developed around the premise that parents and teens are more likely to learn successfully when they learn together. Both parents and teens attend this program’s six dynamic and fun sessions. You and your teen will spend part of each session in separate groups learning complementary skills. Then parents and teens come together for activities and discussion—a powerful learning experience for both of you. The program is designed to break down barriers of communication, promote cooperation, and address challenges head-on. The time you and your teen spend in your groups will be packed with video examples, opportunities to practice new skills, and feedback from your group leaders. You’ll learn skills that you can start using right away to put your family on a path towards greater harmony and stability.

Join us on Thursdays from 5:30-7:30 PM to learn how to: communicate without fighting, develop real skills for real life, avoid the risks today’s teens face, enjoy the journey to adulthood—together. . . . and much more. Classes start on September 19th. If you and your teen are interested in participating, you can sign-up through either Debbie Muma or Alan Perkins.
